Three gifts from me to you to combat 2020

Whoa. 2020 is really something! I had to pull out some tools and tricks that I haven't used in a while as I was just plugging along, but as we have seen 2020 just keeps giving! I thought I'd pass these on to you to see if they can help you get through the rest of this year.
Gratitude Rampage: This isn't just some nice gratitude list. This is rapid fire gratitude listing that seriously can get you out of a funk. There are three ways to do this. They all work.
One Full Page: Fill an entire page, long hand is better, of all of the things you are thankful for in your life. Think big, small and mundane. It all counts. Fill the whole page up and you will feel more grounded and just plain better when you are done. Shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes to do. It's 10 minutes you can totally spare - just stop doomscrolling for that long.
Record the List: Use Siri or Google to make the list for you. Set a time for 5, 7 or 10 minutes and ask your device to record you saying all the things you are grateful for. There's some science behind saying good things out loud that could benefit you. In addition you can do this while doing something else - picking up, walking the dog, running an errand...
Grab a Partner: Ask your partner to do it with you. Set a timer for 5 minutes and go back and forth on the things you are grateful for. This also can work with a group of friends, a way to set up a Zoom meeting or with your kiddo. The bonus here is that you both get those good vibes.
Three Good Things: This is a to do list that keeps you focused. Everyday write down three things that you are going to get done no matter what. And if not done, because life does happen, at least started. I write them on a post it, put them in my Instagram stories, or add them to my planner. Sure, you are going to get more things done than this list, but if you don't at least you are focused on doing three good things. Bonus points if one of those good things is an actual fun thing. If I don't plan fun things I just won't do them.
The Next Big Thing: When I get stuck scrolling through news sites, Instagram or, literally to my chair, it's because I don't have the next big or little thing I can do. I keep a running list on a clipboard that just has all of the things I notice that I need/want to do. These can be as simple as washing down the front of the kitchen cabinets to watching a class on Skillshare. These aren't huge goals or projects - just things I'd like to do when I get a chance. The list helps remind me that they could be done and I just keep adding to it. When I catch myself mindlessly scrolling it helps to find something off my device.
If you try any of the above let me know! I'd love to hear how any of these suggestions work for you. It's my birthday week and although weird to celebrate in 2020 over anything I'll be having some Funfetti cake and looking forward to my 51st trip around the sun. Thanks so much for hanging with me all these years - it means the world to me that anyone would read anything that I write. It's such a gift.
As always, let's #DoGoodWork

Why is this called "the Sunday Sermon"? I send it out on Sunday, but mostly it's my way of fulfilling my life long wish to be a Unitarian minister. That path didn't materialize for me and instead I share my mistakes, life journey through professional and personal development here with the hope of uplifting and spreading the gospel of #DoGoodWork around the world.
