Who's on your team? Do you even have one for your life/work? I'm building mine now!

Did you know you could have your own team? A squad? We aren't talking BFF's - we are talking about building out a group of people who you consult with, who make your life easier, who you work with and are like having your own real people Google in your life for any given subject or need.
I had no idea I could build my own team. As a solo entrepreneur I thought, well, I wasn't big enough, making enough, or important enough to have an entire team of people working to make my life/biz better. In fact, in the age of YouTube and Google I bought into the ridiculousness that we should DIY everything. I did that for years. Trying to piece together everything I needed and it just doesn't work. Because just like people hire me to be their marketing consultant because marketing isn't their specialty, I needed to hire and develop relationships with experts that weren't my specialty.
Who have I gathered on my work/life team?
A kick ass accountant. Thanks to a friend of mine and a deep conversation I realized that my previous accountant wasn't working hard enough for me. So last year I went to her accountant and it is night and day. I can ask question, they prepare me for what I need to know and I feel truly cared for.
An attorney. This was a big one. We have a few long standing annoying loose ends we need to tie up and it had been a dream for 30 years to maybe someday hire an attorney. Finally, I asked two friends for their recommendations of a local one and made an appointment. Yes, they charge every 6 minutes at their billable rate, but they are working for you to tie the bow.
A therapist. I've gone to therapy on and off over the years, but at 50 I decided to jump full into therapy and finally figure out the reasons behind and work through the ick. Then a global pandemic happened. I'm so grateful that I've got my therapist on my team and I can work through the rollercoaster of this time and the stuff that comes up because of it. We are doing telemedicine and I don't think I'll ever go back to in person. It's every week. It's hard. It's worth it. After ten months I'm seeing real, tangible change. It's never too late.
Three confidants. I have three women in my life that I can ask hard questions and get honest feedback. They will edit emails that I'm hesitant to send, they call me on my bullshit, they listen when life feels just to much and they celebrate when I make a win.
A bug guy. We live in a home built in the 1850's. You read that right. It's old and it has a lot of age issues. We have been trying to fight back nature from coming inside (we are talking angry red wasps) for years and last week I just had it and called a bug guy. He came the next day and will come regularly.
Other people I'm thinking of bringing onto my team:
My own business/marketing coach. I am a business and marketing coach to a lot of folks, but I think it might be time to bring in one for my own business to push me further.
A trainer. I need to up my fitness game and I think a trainer would really hold me accountable and help me get the results I want... you know to be as strong as Wonder Woman.
Cleaners. I'd love someone to help me deep clean twice a year to just set the home/office back to where it should be. It's clean, but it could be cleaner.
Who else should I have? Who do you have on your team? Who have you been hesitant to bring into your life/biz? What's the block? We will chat about that on Facebook Live on Wednesday at noon. Hope to see you there!

As always, let's #DoGoodWork
and I hope to see you over on Insta!

FREE SCRIPTS TO MANAGE YOUR SOCIAL NETWORKING: Last week I talked about how I "unfriended" half of my Facebook "friends" and I promised you scripts to send to people you still wanted to stay connected to. You also wanted a script for new folks you meet who try to friend you on Facebook (remember we are conditioned to do that and you have to MOVE them where you want them). I made both for you! Free to use. If you do use them please let me know how it goes, how I can improve the scripts, what worked and what didn't . I'd love a follow up. Click for the Scripts.
I've been doing a lot of small business and artist consulting - if you are wanting to pivot, launch or need someone to talk through and idea I am available. Connect and let's see how we can work together.
